MG ( Original ) 3.5 V8, Gets some more Horses,
After driving in all the way from Ireland, this fine MG,
V8 took on some good power gains without any compromises.

Neil's
Original V8. 3.5 MG. recieves a Weber 500 and Mallory ignition upgrade, plus a
worthy albeit risky ( Due condition) engine clean up.

Although the following picture shows a very clean engine
for the mileage, this engien was infact quite contaminated proir to the
cleaning, this is often the case with low mileage engines,,removal of the samp
and cleaning along with the sump strianer is also reccomended.
It did'nt look as good as
this before.
After a Good Clean and new rocker gear,
Cam & new tappets fitted.
Although the MG had done only 75K miles or so,
its life of short journeys had, "worn" all cam
lobes, & significantly worn away the rear cam lobe thus the engine had
deteriorated to a pretty grubby state.
To Attempt to make things better, the engine top end was stripped, the sump was
removed, and the engine was internally washed through ( Triked ). With
re-assembly, new rocker gear was installed New cam and timing gear. As all, was
showing signs of excessive scoring, stretch or wear .
With slightly compromise Jobs like this, ( new engines are always our best
option ) no guarantees are available, but done sympathetically engine life will
be substantially expended and efficiency will be restored at this level..

fitted with Weber 500 Carb. Offenhauser low height duel port intake manifold,
Mallory Igntion and Magnecor plug wires. And some recon Rocker

After a Couple of small MG Inspired issues,
This stock 75K miles Original MG had a 3.9EFi cam, Weber 500 and Mallory Duel
point igntion upgrade. The customers comments speak for themselves.
. good bloody god!! All of a sudden it felt
like I had another 30 horses! ( this was 30bhp more than the
30bhp gained already from the original upgrade and, ) before final
set up) Under WOT in first gear the car will fishtail left-right-left and the
first time I tried an overtaking manouvere on a semi-trailer truck, changing
into second under full power almost snapped the car totally sideways! VBG Woo
hoo is all I can say. :) I DO have to be a bit careful with the car now!!!! She
lights up it's rear wheels at anything over 4000rpm in first and also on the
change into second.
BTW, bragging I know, but I absolutely ate an M3 who wanted a race last
night(up to 60mph where I chicked out on a public street). Boy that was a
shock. He wouldn't leave me alone, beeping at me when I pulled over to fill up
for gas, wanting another go!!) How childish! ;) Pity about the corners.. the
suspension, the brakes, all feel VERY OLD right about now, and they are all
brand 'new'. ( Not from Rpi)
Thanks Chris, this really is a wonderful
combo (she also idles beautifully and has already withstood 2hrs locked in
Dublin traffic), I don't think I've ever had such a big smile on my face after
driving any car. G The other thing is the sound, wow it sure sounds like a V8
now!
