FAQs 135 Litre twin Tanks system. FAQs |
|
The following few pictures show some details on our latest twin tank conversion for the 4.0, 4.6 & HSE models.
The two very distinct advantages are that both LPG tanks are underneath the car instead of inside. No load space is lost. and the 135 litre capacity means an average of 300 mile LPG range from 110 usable Litreage.
We also now have an option for refitting the spare wheel and all fittings & trimming required. |
|
Initial preparation of the rear floor space shows how rusty 5-year-old stock exhaust systems normally are.
If you think these exposed pipes look bad, The top of the (hidden from view) silencers are normally rusted through completely, so an upgrade to a stainless steel twin pipe rear system,
although additional to the cost, is normally well worth it. |
|
Here you can see the twin tanks installed.
Both tanks are held with stainless steel ribbon straps, and the smaller underslung one also has a mild steel additional pair of retaining straps.
The std. exhaust was in good order so it was decided to modify it rather than replace it (against our better judgment).

The tanks are blanked off by the false floor (as seen left) which is sealed and the screwed down. |
The finished product!
Loosing absolutely no boot space and visually no difference, this is the most common tank configuration for the Range Rover 4.0 and 4.6 Litre and by far the best. |

This underneath shot shows the tanks installed & the exhaust modified (about 3 hours with an expert welder and some pipe bends to hand).
The exhaust was further protected with heat resistant and sound proofing wrap. this also helps to shield heat from the tanks.
If you upgrade to the stainless twin-pipe system the exhaust modification would not be required but the heat proofing wrap is still a very worthwhile option. |
Spare wheel location :-)) |
|
For both the 80 litre spare wheel LPG tank location or the new 145 litre twin tank system, we can offer this very neat 'spare' wheel placement conversion kit, complete with spare wheel cover trimmed to your needs.
We also have a surrounding frame for the spare wheel that allows for refitment of the parcel shelf with minimum alteration or difficulty and gives perfect results.
Please ask for further details. |
